Learn how the world-renowned Arabica coffee is made. Sipi’s coffee tour is a practical and insightful experience and takes place at a local farm. During the coffee tour you will move from planting to harvesting, to dehusking and roasting. At the same time, you learn everything about the history and impact of the coffee business on the Sipi Community.

  • This tour takes 3 to 4 hours

  • Costs are $15 per person

  • When staying our Guesthouse, we can arrange transport to and from Sipi. A boda boda costs approximately $3,50 per person, way and back

The world coffee business

Today coffee is a 200 billion dollar business, supporting 25 million people worldwide. Uganda is the 8th largest coffee producer in the world, with an annual production of 282.000 tons and 92 registered export companies. 11% of the world production comes from Africa. Behind Ethiopia, Uganda is the second largest coffee producer in Africa. In Uganda, 1.7 million households grow coffee with a total of 330 million trees under production, of which 200 million trees are Robusta and 40 million trees Arabica (source: UCDA website).
