Perched on the lush slopes of Mount Elgon, Home of Friends Guesthouse is more than just a place to rest. It is a gateway to the beauty, culture, and adventure that Kapchorwa has to offer. Established in 2017 by Daan, a Dutch social entrepreneur, together with his wife Eliza, and local owner George, the Guesthouse quickly became a hub for travelers seeking authentic experiences in this stunning region. 

What began as an office for youth empowerment, soon transformed into a haven for explorers, adventurers, and nature lovers alike. Our very first guest? The Dutch coach of none other than local hero and multiple Olympic and World champion, Joshua Cheptegei! Since then, Home of Friends has welcomed tourists from all over the world, providing a cosy base for those eager to discover the breathtaking waterfalls, scenic trails, and vibrant villages of the area.

A place to relax, explore and connect

At Home of Friends, we are passionate about two things: creating meaningful travel & hospitality experiences and fostering the growth of the local community. We’ve developed a range of immersive Community tours, that let you dive into the heart of Mount Elgon's rich culture and natural beauty. You might be hiking lush trails, running at high altitude or simply relaxing in our peaceful garden. Whatever you choose, we’re here to make your stay unforgettable.

To truly soak in everything the area has to offer, we recommend staying for at least five days. Take time to relax, connect with the welcoming locals, and explore the best of the region's outdoor adventures.

Our passion goes beyond hospitality. Through our affiliated Community Interest Initiatives in athletics and adventure tourism, we empower Kapchorwa’s youth and women with skills, income opportunities and pride in their cultural identity. We believe that social entrepreneurship and Community-driven tourism are key to building a sustainable future.
