A story of friendship, nature and purpose on Mount Elgon
Imagine waking up to birdsong, fresh mountain air and endless green views. That’s everyday life at Home of Friends Guesthouse — a cozy hilltop retreat near Sipi Falls where nature, comfort and Community come together.
Our Guesthouse sits on the slopes of Mount Elgon in Kapchorwa, Uganda’s “Land of Champions.” It’s a place to slow down, breathe deeply and experience the natural rhythm of rural life. Whether you’re here to hike waterfalls, enjoy a strong cup of Arabica coffee or simply rest after a long journey, you’ll feel right at home from the moment you arrive.
Roots & vision
Home of Friends was founded in 2017 by Daan and Eliza, together with local owner George. What started as a small youth empowerment office quickly grew into a space where travelers, runners and local families meet and learn from each other.
Our vision has always been simple: to offer meaningful hospitality that connects people — with nature, with culture and with themselves. From the beginning, we’ve combined comfort and purpose: delicious organic meals, genuine local encounters and a commitment to empowering the Kapchorwa Community through guiding, hospitality and creative entrepreneurship.

A different rhythm if life
Life on Mount Elgon moves at its own gentle pace. Here in Kapchorwa, days start with cool mountain air, the sound of birds and warm smiles from our neighbors on the hill. It’s a place that invites you to slow down, breathe deeply and find joy in the simple things…A walk through the village, a shared meal or a good conversation by the fire.
At Home of Friends, we believe that reconnecting with nature — and with each other — is the best way to restore balance. Whether you’re here to hike the waterfalls, join a local cooking experience or simply rest in the garden with a strong cup of Arabica coffee, you’ll quickly feel the calm rhythm of life on the mountain.

Our promise
We believe hospitality is about more than a comfortable bed or a good meal. It’s about how you’re welcomed, listened to and cared for. From your first message to your last cup of coffee before departure, we do our best to make you feel part of our extended family on Mount Elgon.

Community & Purpose
Home of Friends grew out of a simple belief: that outdoor sports and tourism can bring travelers and communities together in ways that help both to grow. Together with native guides, women entrepreneurs and youth leaders, we create opportunities for learning, income and pride in Kapchorwa’s cultural heritage.
Every stay and every hike adds to this growing network of positive change — one that celebrates teamwork, nature and connection.
