Experience the life of the indigenous mosopisiek mountain people

Learn about the culture and lifestyle of the Mosopisiek people, an indigenous tribe living on the green and fertile slopes of Mount Elgon. Insight stories and practical demonstrations are at the heart of this village tour. Discover the breathing point of Mount Elgon, learn how to make traditional honey wine and (if you dare) explore the largest cave in the area: Mukuuso. 

Practical information 

  • 4-hour hike of moderate difficulty with a native and trained guide

  • One hour to and one hour from on a boda boda so expect a total of 6 hours for this activity

  • Start and end point is Home of Friends Guesthouse 

  • Included are packed bites (rolex + piece of fruit) and lunch in a local restaurant 

  • Come with good hiking shoes, a long trouser, a warm jacket, rain gear, sunscreen and a water bottle (free fill / re fill in our restaurant)

 
 

Pricing

  • $35 per person for 1-2 pax, $32 per person for 3-6 pax and $29 per person for 7-10 pax

  • These prices include boda boda transport, packed bites and lunch in local restaurant

  • Children below 5 years free of charge; children between 6 and 15 years for half price
